The Nittany Lion Inn is in search of a Director of Event Operations for our 4-Diamond rated registered historic hotel. Owned and operated by The Pennsylvania State University, this property is one of two located on the University Park Campus in pristine Happy Valley in central Pennsylvania. With over 20,000 square feet of very busy banquet space, this position is under the general direction of the General Manager and will create an exceptional customer experience by assuring events run smoothly in all areas of the operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing daily operations and long-term planning for the hotel's Banquet Event operations both on premise and at off premise locations. Coordinate and oversee all banquet related food and beverage, room sets and audio-visual requirements with the event planners, group contacts and all appropriate departments. Oversee the hiring process including interviewing, hiring, and training, providing appraisals, the internship program and maintaining an environment for continuous learning. Responsible for preparing departmental forecasts and budgets to ensure that targets for payroll and other expenses are met. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Penn State and state policies and laws regarding alcohol and alcohol service. The successful candidate must be committed to effectively interacting with diverse audiences, understand the value of creating and sustaining an inclusive work environment, and engage with others in a professional and respectful manner.
