Job Description

Summary of Position:

Oversee and coordinate the planning, organizing, training and leadership necessary to achieve stated objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, customer service, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation and district satisfaction


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all students, staff and parents feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times
  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards of SFE
  • Achieve company objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance of facility and sanitation and cleanliness through training of employees and creating a positive, productive working environment
  • Control cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with SFE and the districts policies and procedures
  • Make employment and termination decisions
  • Fill in where needed to ensure customer service standards and efficient operations
  • Continually strive to develop your staff in all areas of managerial and professional development
  • Communicate with district administrators to ensure their expectations are being met
  • Prepare and submit all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner
  • Oversee and ensure that SFE policies on employee performance appraisals are followed and completed on a timely basis
  • Schedule labor as required by using M.P.L.H. (Meals Per Labor Hour) while ensuring that all positions are staffed when and as needed and labor cost objectives are met
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with SFE policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures
  • Fully understand and comply with all applicable federal, state, county and municipal laws, regulations and rules including those that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements in regards to SFE and district employees and customers and operations
  • Develop, plan and carry out SFE marketing and promotional activities
  • Conduct yearly satisfaction surveys of district administration and students
  • Hold monthly manager meetings for the purpose of ensuring that all schools are getting information they need to best meet the objectives of SFE and the district
  • Ensure that the Company's operations for which this position is responsible follow sound financial practices, comply with applicable legal requirements and comport with established practices in all regards
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion with respect to any matter not specifically addressed by the Company's policies
  • Ultimate responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the activities and operations related to the site to which you are assigned and for those duties within the scope of this positions responsibilities
  • Supervision and evaluation of subordinate employees
  • Submitting reports as directed and in compliance with deadlines
  • Other duties, as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with an academic major in areas including food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience of front-of-the-house operations and/or assistant management positions within food and beverage
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with other Managers, Directors, Administrators, students and parents
  • Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a cash register or POS system
  • Must have basic knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Programs: Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook
  • Prior school foodservice experience highly desired
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and current auto insurance


Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English and/or dominate language at the school
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)
  • Be physically able to lift, reach, bend and stoop frequently lift up to 50 pounds
