Job Description Pay Transparency Statement: The compensation philosophy reflects the Company s reasonable expectation at the time of posting. We consider a number of factors when making individual compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, and other business needs. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive program, subject to the rule governing the program. Position Summary: The Benefits Specialist serves as a resource for employee and local human resources personnel for all benefit programs; day to day administration of benefit plans and programs; liaison with vendors for problem resolution; responsible for data management and file transmissions. Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: Administer complex and varying insurance benefit programs and wellness programs Ensure confidentiality while maintaining employee benefits files and updating employee payroll records Respond to high volume of inbound calls and emails from employees and local HR representatives, as well as complete any benefit changes and ensure all required documentation is received Work with TPAs and vendors to resolve difficult or sensitive insurance problems and documentation thereof Organize and communicate annual enrollment changes and deadlines Document and maintain a system of procedures to administer benefits Assist with preparation of benefits communications, surveys and informational materials Conduct employee benefits presentations and training Data file management, including transfer between HRIS systems and vendors Investigate and process questions and information on data file error reports from vendors Assist with development of benefits communications, including those that are federally mandated Other projects or duties as assigned Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor s Degree with 3+ years of experience in Human Resources or equivalent employee benefits experience or HS Diploma with 6+ years of experience in Human Resources or equivalent employee benefits experience Strong customer service and effective communications skills (verbal, written, interpersonal) Ability to maintain effective working relationships Willing to travel up to 20% Proficient experience with HR Information Systems Knowledge of state and federal laws, statutes, and mandates regarding employee benefits Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test Preferred Skills and Experience: Two or more years of recent experience in benefits administration Prior experience in Corporate HR or TPA setting Bilingual (Spanish). The ability to read, write and speak Spanish is highly preferred. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Act as benefits subject matter expert, responsible for responding to employees and fielding benefits inquiries (eligibility, coverage, payments, etc.). Create, review, and update plan summaries, communication materials, open enrollment materials, benefit brochures, and other related materials. Manage and oversee the company's 401k program to include vendor management, eligibility and annual plan audit. Serve as Benefits data subject matter expert (SME) for the HR Operations team. Enter/update enrollment and termination data in vendor websites as necessary. Understand risk and compliance of benefits administration, and have strong working knowledge of Benefits/Payroll related Federal/ State laws, including, but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, HIPAA, FICA, ERISA, COBRA, and 401(K). Review, reconcile and coordinate vendor billings. Handle special projects and additional responsibilities as required. Experience and Education High School Diploma/GED Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related discipline (or equivalent experience) required. Five (5)+ years of health benefits administration experience required. Experience with self-funded plans, plan design, and 5500 filings also required; prior 401k administration experience preferred. CEBS certification preferred. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Must demonstrate ability to lead by example and work as a team. Experience working with leaders, demonstrating courage in taking a stand and influencing others required. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills appropriate for all levels of an organization. Must demonstrate comfort speaking in front of groups. Must have excellent level of accuracy and detail-orientation. Excellent computer skills including HRIS benefits management (WorkforceNow preferred) and Microsoft Office suite required.
