Position:Golf Course Superintendent
Reports To:General Manager/COO Supervises:Maintenance Foreman; Pesticides Application Specialist; Irrigation Specialist; Equipment Operator; Equipment Mechanic Job Summary:Maintain golf course, practice facilities, club grounds and related golf equipment.
Interaction:Frequent Interaction: with vendors and occasional Interaction: with members and guests Essential Functions:Maintains all grounds and course maintenance equipmentSchedules, trains, Supervises: and evaluates all personnel assigned to departmentSupervises: all planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on the golf courseSupervises: operation of the equipment repair shopRecords all maintenance on coursePrepares annual budget for department; takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are metSelects and prepares proper fertilizers and nutrients for all flora and faunaDevelops and maintains drainage, irrigation and watering systemsMaintains course in proper playing conditionImplements and enforces comprehensive safety program for employees, members and guests on course in compliance with local, state and federal lawsMaintains accurate work records for all personnel in the departmentCommunicates as necessary with golf and tennis professionals to discuss conditions of facilities, maintenance plans and scheduled eventsCommunicates as necessary with grounds, golf, house committees and/or other applicable committeesInsures that chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Maintains required records and strives to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum productsAttends staff and management meetingAttends turf conferences, equipment shows, workshops and other educational programs to maintain a current knowledge of technical and turf innovations and changes that could affect the department's operationsPrepares and revises grounds manualEstablishes short- and long-range plans for the golf courseOversees all course constructionKeeps members informed about current and future maintenance activitiesConducts daily facility security checks ensuring accurate inventory of equipment and keysPlans professional development and training activities for subordinatesPerform all work related duties as assigned by supervisor or General ManagerReview timecards the end of each week and approve by the following Monday morning for payroll purposes.Enter updated weekly schedules on Fridays for upcoming week.Daily review of department timecards and make necessary adjustments for absences, missed punches etc. according to club policies and procedures. Working Conditions:· Office Setting· Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold weather conditions Special Requirements:· Ability to keep information confidential· Must possess an outgoing personality· Must possess honesty and integrity· Must be courteous and tactful at all times· Must treat others with kindness and respect· Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner to members, guests, vendors and staff. · Excellent supervisory skills· Must have non-commercial pesticide applicators license, from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture.
