Summary:Kitava is looking to add an experienced kitchen leader to our friendly team in San Francisco. This important team member will be the taskmaster of the kitchen, responsible for executing high food quality, consistent menu availability, and efficient service in a fun and safe work environment.Our goal is to nourish the world through healthy, consciously sourced meals served in a warm and welcoming environment, and were looking for a strong leader who is passionate about contributing to this mission!About the role:The Sous Chef is the taskmaster of the kitchen, and reports directly to Kitavas Chef. The primary responsibility of the Sous Chef is to ensure all processes and procedures are followed correctly in the kitchen to ensure consistent menu availability, high food quality, efficient service, and a safe work environment.The ideal fit is an experienced back-of-house leader whos obsessed with high food quality. If that sounds like you, wed love to talk!Job responsibilities include:Product quality control, including presentationProduct inventory and orderingAdjust and maintain prep & order pars as neededTrain and monitor kitchen staff to ensure effective, safe, and consistent job performanceEnsure consistent recipe execution and platingEnsure the entire menu is available for service every dayWaste tracking and managementMaintain order and cleanliness of walk-in, enforcing FIFO methodEnforce food safety and sanitation guidelines, adjusting and teaching when necessaryEnsure staff maintains a clean and safe work environmentAssist with recipe development as neededPerform all kitchen duties when needed, including prep, expediting, and all Line stationsAny other duties related to running an efficient kitchen operationRequired Experience:2+ years working in a Supervisor or Lead position at a restaurant or high-volume kitchen5+ years in a back-of-house service industry positionPreviously held the position of Line Lead, Shift Supervisor, Head Cook, Sous Chef or other significant kitchen leadership roleHas managed staff scheduling and labor costsComfortable using Google Docs and other digital software productsPreferred:Fast-casual restaurant experienceBilingual (Spanish / English)Familiarity with restrictive diets (i.e. gluten-free, paleo, vegan, keto, etc.)Has implemented systems for employee onboarding, training, inventory tracking, and orderingCertified ServSafe Food ManagerBenefits:Kaiser Healthcare Plan (opt-in)Commuter BenefitKitava SwagFree Kitava MealsCompensation:Hourly position, $20-25/hr range (based on experience) + TipsAbout KitavaKitava is a fast-casual restaurant built for health-conscious eaters from the ground up.
