The Heavy Duty Porter/Utility Cleaner position is responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer. The Heavy Duty Porter/Utility Cleaner is also responsible for performing cleaning duties as directed by the Executive Steward, throughout Boyd Gaming properties; may be assigned to rotate between any Food & Beverage kitchen. The designated shift hours will be 6PM-2:30AM. Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with customers and employees, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers. Empties and cleans garbage cans. Empties grease barrels and trays. Cleans floors, walls, and ceilings. Sorts garbage. Cleans floor drains and grease traps. Cleans kitchen equipment, grill, fryer, ovens, etc. On occasion will perform these duties at the Casino Café, or for special events and parties hosted on the Casino Boat. The designated shift hours will be 6PM-2:30AM. Prior janitorial experience preferred, but not required. Must be able to obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications required by Federal, State, and Gaming regulations. Must be at least 18 years of age. The skills necessary of this position are typically acquired through a minimum of two months' on-the-job training or through related experience. The designated shift hours will be 6PM-2:30AM. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for being knowledgeable of menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections as well as maintaining the appearance of the bar. Core Job Responsibilities: Make and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, proportioning ingredients according to standardized recipes and provide food service as needed Clean equipment, tools, and supplies and ensure equipment is in good working order; including, cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of the bar Knowledgeable of menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available Ring poured or served beverages, collect payment, and follow all cash handling and variance procedures, including preparing daily reports and submitting appropriate paperwork Provide Apprentice Bartender and Bar Porter with training and mentoring on overall function of the bar, guest service and bartending Maintain bar inventory according to set pars and internal controls, and request product to maintain stock in bar Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refer the matter to management, notify supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft Perform other job-related duties as requested Qualifications Must be 21 years or older Must obtain a TAM card Must obtain a gaming card Must obtain a NV Health Card High school diploma or equivalent Two (2) years of experience in a bar or similar environment Experience working in a similar resort setting Knowledgeable of menu items, including mixture and serving beverages, standard beverage recipes, preparation methods, glassware, garnishes, products, menu items, supplies and equipment Knowledgeable of wine and champagne characteristics by the glass, major wines, designated glassware, terminology, and garnishes Able to take initiative and exhibit flexibility Highly motivated and energetic personality Knowledge of hotel services, features, local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately Excellent customer service skills as well as interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays Physical Demands: Work is performed in a hotel/resort setting.
