Preparing food items and meals for customers according to recipes, specifications, and guidelines. Cooks are also responsible for managing all aspects of food preparation and production in a sanitary environment. They may have to prepare ingredients, process customer orders, produce garnishes, communicate with wait staff, and clean their workspace throughout the day. Cooks may have different levels of influence on the menu depending on the size and type of the restaurant.
