Job Description: Social Media + Communications Specialist
Reporting to: Sales + Marketing Director

BasBlue is a nonprofit organization, dedicated to supporting women across the personal and
professional by fostering authentic connections and elevated programming, alongside
mentorship and growth opportunities for the self-identifying women nonbinary individuals of
Detroit. Located in Midtown Detroit, BasBlue is the first-ever space of its kind in Michigan,
providing a home for a diverse and inclusive community via annual membership, educational
seminars, mentorship programs, wellness offerings, and a bustling café - all created by women, for women.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a Social Media + Communications Specialist with 3-5 years experience to
develop, manage and support social media and marketing needs, foster membership
relationships and retention, provide membership support, and advance brand building and
brand-awareness.
Key Responsibilities for Social Media + Communications Specialist:
GENERAL
Implement marketing campaigns and develop collateral to support evolving
needs across all channels: email, web, social, and print.
Track various marketing and member outreach projects and initiatives across
internal and external partners (public relations, nonprofit partners)
Work across teams to identify opportunities to promote, generate member
leads, fundraise and spotlight program efforts.
Support Sales + Marketing Director on projects, as assigned
Represent BasBlue at offsite events and conferences as needed
Act as an ambassador - greeting, getting to know and understand members,
surveying them to capture their needs, programming desires, etc.
Act as a role-model - practicing servant leadership and graciousness - delivering on
the BasBlue values with team and members
COPY + DESIGN
Coordinate messaging and develop collateral for BasBlue events including in-space
programs, foundation initiatives, corporate sponsor programs, private events and more
Work with Program, Operations and Philanthropy Team to develop and update web
content (including photo, copy and links) for all BasBlue programming
Lead copywriting across web, digital, print, and social
Create unique branded content for all social media platforms
Generate, edit, publish and share brand communications + content (original text,
images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community
members to take action
MEMBER COMMUNICATIONS
Manage email distribution lists - members, newsletter sign-ups, prospective
Members
Work with Engagement Team to support new member sales funnel
Utilize the CRM to share, edit, develop and adjust strategy.
Map email comms strategy and corresponding timelines to align with
marketing funnel needs
MEASUREMENT
Track email campaign + web success rates
Optimize email campaigns for these segments measuring against key KPIs
Capture and review analytics, revise, and report on project results to create growth
strategy

You have experience being a part of a team where you have built something from the
ground up and don t believe any task is above or beneath you
You love working with different teams, different departments maintaining
enthusiasm and energy, continually finding ways to collaborate and grow
You are patient, resourceful and proactive, always looking for solutions before
presenting problems
InDesign or Photoshop, and Canva or other photo editing/collateral design platforms
You are acutely aware of what you don t know as much as you are sure of what you
do know; unafraid to ask questions, ready to learn
Preferred Skills:
Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Presentations) and Microsoft Word (Office, Word)
Knowledge and experience building decks in Keynote
Experience with email service provider system (Constant Contact, Mail Chimp, etc)
Customer database and list management (e.g. SalesForce, Contactable, etc.)
Website Management + Editing - HTML, Hubspot, Wordpress, etc.
Photography and photo-editing, Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Salesforce (or
other CRM), InDesign.
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in marketing, communications, and/or 3-5 years experience in a
related field.
Deep organizational skills
Ability to seamlessly adapt to changing priorities
Knowledge of marketing principles and relevant channels
Copywriting and editing skills
Very comfortable with social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram,
Twitter,etc.)
Exceptional attention to detail and brand consistency
Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills
Knowledge of relevant nonprofits and fellow women s spaces across the country -
learning, borrowing and building best-in-class practices
Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects
to meet required deadlines
