Location:National Harbor, MarylandAs a Bartender, you will be responsible for being knowledgeable of menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections as well as maintaining the appearance of the bar. You will also set the stage for guest experience with your welcoming smile and service. By understanding their unique stories and needs, you will own their experience to create WOW memories they will carry with them far and beyond their stay with us.PRIMARY PURPOSE:As a Bartender, you will be responsible for being knowledgeable of menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections as well as maintaining the appearance of the bar. You will also set the stage for guest experience with your welcoming smile and service. By understanding their unique stories and needs, you will own their experience to create WOW memories they will carry with them far and beyond their stay with us.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Make and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, proportioning ingredients according to standardized recipes and provide food service as neededClean equipment, tools, and supplies and ensure equipment is in good working order; including, cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of the barKnowledgeable of menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections availableRing poured or served beverages, collect payment, and follow all cash handling and variance procedures, including preparing daily reports and submitting appropriate paperworkProvide Apprentice Bartender and Bar Porter with training and mentoring on overall function of the bar, guest service and bartendingMaintain bar inventory according to set pars and internal controls, and request product to maintain stock in barResolve guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refer the matter to management, notify supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theftPerform other job-related duties as requestedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledgeable of menu items, including mixture and serving beverages, standard beverage recipes, preparation methods, glassware, garnishes, products, menu items, supplies and equipmentKnowledgeable of wine and champagne characteristics by the glass, major wines, designated glassware, terminology, and garnishesAble to take initiative and exhibit flexibilityHighly motivated and energetic personalityKnowledge of hotel services, features, local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accuratelyExcellent customer service skills as well as interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contactsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidaysPREFERRED:High school diploma or equivalentTwo (2) years of experience in a bar or similar environmentExperience working in a similar resort setting
