We are hiring for a Cook, Wildlight Kitchen + Bar at our location in Vancouver, BC near the UBC area. You will be responsible for: Preparing menu items according to standard recipe, plating, quality expectations and time standards. Portioning, arranging and garnishing food to ensure proper presentation. Assisting with storeroom duties as needed, such as receiving orders, rotating stock and labeling and dating food items that are prepped or opened. Maintaining professional communication with front of the house staff to accommodate all guest requests and special dietary needs. Observing and testing food to ensure proper quality using methods such as tasting, smelling, or testing proper cooking temperature with a thermometer. Maintaining a clean and organized work area and ensuring that equipment in the work area is clean and in proper working condition. Assisting other cooks during times of heavy business volume. You have: Minimum 1 year of previous experience as a cook in an upscale high-volume, full-service restaurant environment. Proficient knife skills with the ability to use cut glove and other kitchen safety equipment. Ability to work where there is frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high and low temperatures, and humidity. Food Safe Certification. Proficiency with computers and applications including POS systems. You are: Detail oriented with a focus on speed and accuracy. Adaptable, open to change and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Passionate about great food and outstanding service. A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with team members and customers.
