Aventura Health Group - POSITION SUMMARY This Dining Services Aide is responsible for assisting in food preparation and serving of foods in accordance with planned menus, established portion control procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. He/she will help to ensure that the highest level of quality food products are delivered and maintained.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1.Adheres to all nutrition therapy and dietary services programs including: Aventura Dining Services menus and diet manual, nutrition and dining services policies and procedures, and internal nutrition programs.2.Assists in preparing and serving of meals and snacks in accordance with standardized recipes and therapeutic diet orders. Makes only authorized food substitutions.3.Works to ensure meals are prepared and served timely.4.Monitors and documents food temperatures daily as required by Aventura policy and procedure, and all applicable federal state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.5.Ensures appropriate utensils and equipment are provided with residents trays.6.Monitors walk-in refrigerators and freezer temperatures daily as required by Aventura policy and procedure, and all applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. 7.Assists in identifying and storing incoming foods, supplies and equipment. Recommends to Dining Services Manager the equipment and supply needs of the department.8.Assists with daily or scheduled cleaning duties and performs all tasks in accordance with established Universal Precautions and sanitary, safety and infection control policies and procedures.9.Participates in the Continuous Corporate Quality Improvement Program to enhance the quality of resident care in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern long term care facilities.10.Attends and participates in facility training sessions, workshops, seminars, etc. to keep self abreast of current changes in the dining services field. 11.Works in designated kitchen area as well as food storage and other preparation areas, and is involved with other facility personnel, residents, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc.12.Communicates with facility staff, medical staff, and support agency staff.13.Maintains resident confidentiality and treats residents with dignity, kindness, and respect.14.Knows and complies with residents rights rules.15.Assists in monitoring food service to ensure that residents dietary needs and preferences are met..General Responsibilities1.Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner following all standard infection control, sanitation, and proper food handling practices and safety guidelines for equipment operation. 2.Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs.3.Represents Aventura Dining Services in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for others. QUALIFICATIONS A.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh School education or equivalentPrevious dining services experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferredB.SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust have a positive attitude towards the elderlyAbility to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashionPossess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general publicDemonstrate the ability to work harmoniously with other personnelAbility to carry out the goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the nutrition care, dining services, and CCQI programsAbility to manage time in an appropriate fashion.Must be able to work independently as needed Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English languageMust possess basic mathematics skillsMust be able to listen well and accept constructive feedback
