The Ascent Services Group is looking for several Data Stewards, to join one of our financial services clients in Central Denver for a permanent opportunity. The ideal candidate will have working experience in the financial asset management industry and comprehensive knowledge of data governance practices and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

You will work in a pivotal Data Stewardship role collaborating with multiple functional groups across several lines of business, to drive the development and management of data centric strategic goals and objectives for an assigned set of data sets or functional departments. You will be accountable for best practices in Master Data Management, prioritizing the change book of work, implementing data quality metrics and implementing the governance model plus establishing business rules and data requirements that align with each departments goal.
  • Functions as a subject matter expert across the enterprise on Operations, and lead efforts with stakeholders to resolve data-related issues
  • Partners with business and technology to drive data-driven decisioning for either Investment or Distribution Operations
  • Be client focused
  • Implement and manage data governance communities
  • Collaborate with technology, business units and risk to drive the definition, prioritization and implementation of data initiatives
  • Design documentation and deploy consistent enterprise-wide data definitions, processes and ownership
  • Define and report on key metrics related to quality of data
  • Lead efforts to ensure improving quality of data
  • Create and maintain core metadata on the governance platform
  • Develop effective relationships with business areas, data operations, technology and risk to oversee the delivery of data-related services to the organization
  • Partner in the development of data operations standards as needed to effectively manage data across the firm
  • Be the voice of data for incoming projects & changes impacting datasets
  • Consult on projects and providing data training and education to business and IT
  • Establish a culture of analytics and using new technologies to support business expansion
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned

Significant operational data management experience within the financial services sector (preferably in the buy side)
Extensive experience and detailed knowledge of Investment Operations (Reference Data, Position keeping & reconciliation, Pricing) and of Distribution Operations (AUM calculations, Client onboarding and flows)
Proven track record of execution, particularly in data-related domain
Comprehensive knowledge of data governance practices and processes
Strong analytics background
Experience working with business, operational data and technical teams to clearly document data governance and metadata requirements
Experienced in data governance approaches, practices and learnings in large financial organization(s)
Experience in contributing to business requirement documentation
Some project management experience
A credible thought leader able to inspire others through their knowledge and passion
Some experience of Informatica data governance tools would be beneficial
Bachelors degree in mathematics, business administration, statistics or computer science (or similar)
