Easterseals residential facilities provide 24-hour support to youth ages 5-21 with neurological and or psychiatric disabilities. At this facility we provide food service for our residential program, child development centers and seniors programs. We are looking for a Food Service Assistant to join our team! The individual in this role will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, serving food, cleaning the kitchen and dining area, in addition to the following: Occasionally wash dishes. Follow proper food storage methods. Sanitation procedures. You will interact daily serving meals to staff and clients. Qualifications: Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED. A minimum of 6 months experience in food service. Candidates must have a solid work record. Proven commitment to a company or organization. Strong customer service skills. Ability to work as part of a team is required. Candidates must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Hours: This is a full-time position. The schedule is: Sunday-7am-3pm & Monday-Thursday- 11am-7pm. POSITION SUMMARY Implements patient diet orders in a therapeutically accurate manner while enhancing patient satisfaction with meal service. # KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Answers room service telephone calls and utilizes room service software in an accurate and efficient manner. Identifies patients needing assistance and patients who are unable to participate in room service, providing the appropriate assistance to enable these patients to meet food preferences within the constraints of their diet orders. Utilizes all tools and resources to provide therapeutically correct meal items for patients. Monitors and implements appropriate interventions for patients with potential drug nutrient interactions. Monitors and implements appropriate interventions for patients with food allergies as well as patients on insulin. Provides outstanding customer service, resulting in a high level of patient satisfaction. Communicates effectively with dietitians, staff in food service, and staff in other parts of the organization, regarding patient care needs. # REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE # SKILLS Excellent listening skills and customer service skills. Ability to work successfully as a team member, focusing on positive outcomes for patients, co-workers, and the organization. Understanding of the needs of diverse patients of different ages and backgrounds. Ability to provide care that is appropriate to each patient needs. Ability to learn and implement resources for maintaining therapeutic accuracy of diet order. # EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
