Job Responsibilities: Santini Foods is a rapidly-growing, fast-paced food manufacturer in San Lorenzo, California. Santini's manufacturing facility produces sweetened condensed milk, chocolate and caramel syrups, and related products. As the Plant Manager you will manage, direct, and coordinate overall plant operations to include product quality, production efficiency, food safety, regulatory compliance, physical asset management, cost control, workplace safety, and employee development. This position is responsible for insuring that products are produced in a safe, sanitary environment conforming to recognized industry GMPs and delivered in accordance with industry standards and customer specifications. Job Duties: Assure that organizational quality objectives are met. Assure that organizational production objectives are met. Monitor and direct daily and ongoing plant operations. Address production, quality, personnel, safety, customer, and regulatory issues in a timely fashion as required. Ensure all plant personnel are operating in compliance with plant and corporate procedures. Address any non-compliance immediately. Develop and execute plant-specific strategic vision and objectives to assure alignment with Company vision and objectives. Promote employee engagement, training and development to maximize safety, quality, and productivity. Provide leadership for assessing and enhancing plant capabilities. Develop a culture of open, honest, and valued communication and involvement of all team members. Maintain and support prescribed programs of employee relations, health and safety, training and development, compensation, and benefits for all employees in the plant. Conduct regular (probably weekly) meetings with plant staff to ensure solid communication among all appropriate personnel. Handle regulatory, production, quality, employee, customer, and safety issues that arise, as required. Ensure compliance with Company GMPs, all government regulations (USDA, FDA, CDFA, OSHA, EPA, FSMA, etc.), customer-required practices and procedures, and requirements from third parties such as organic and food safety certifiers. Ensure the plant and products meet customer specifications and exceed customer expectations, and interact with customers as needed. Work with current and future customers to develop an environment of mutual trust and understanding establishing Santini Foods as the supplier of choice for manufacturing and packaging. Assist in developing and responsible or co-responsible for capital projects, policies and procedures. Ensure that Human Resources programs are in place addressing the selection, training, development, motivation, and cultural expectations of all plant employees and the Company. Insure that job descriptions are up to date and that reviews are conducted on a periodic basis, at a minimum annually. Drive collaboration with R&D and Marketing in new product development to ensure plant capabilities and production feasibility are understood and addressed. Use key performance indicators to improve plant performance and profitability. Communicate and escalate plant operations status with the President and CEO. Interact with customers to meet their expectations on operational and quality objectives. Expected to work the required hours needed to execute the duties and responsibilities of the plant manager position and set an example for all the employees. Attend corporate meetings, including production, quality, and projects. Participate in continuing education to develop skills needed to enhance and maintain job performance. Drive a Continuous Improvement culture. Any and all other duties assigned. Qualifications / Education / Experience / Skills: Bachelor's Degree in an applicable discipline required (i.e. Business, Industrial Management, Engineering, Food Science, Management, Operations). 10+ years manufacturing experience in a Food, Beverages, or related industry. 5+ years experience in a significant leadership role in a plant required. Strong food safety background required. Technical skills in food processing/GMP techniques, process improvements, and materials management. Experience with dairy preferred. Business, Analytical and Financial Acumen Required. Strong customer orientation. Experience with FDA/CDFA a plus. Key Leadership Competencies in addition to Ethics/Values and Integrity/Trust (Drive for Results, Managing Vision and Purpose, Decision Quality, Action Oriented, Managerial Courage, Strategic Agility, Priority Setting) required. Ability to use the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to improve plant performance. Ability to problem solve using the combined talents of various individuals within the organization. Excellent organizational, team building, written and oral communication, presentation, and negotiation skills required. Ability to interact in a positive way with all personnel and with our customers. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
