Description1. Job Summary:The Kitchen Coordinator serves healthy and nutritious meals for participants. The incumbent maintains appropriate health standards, safety, cleanliness and adequate food supply levels. The incumbent maintains CACFP and MDH expectations.2. Essential Functions:Serves healthy and nutritious meals for participants and groups; food is prepared & delivered by catering company.Participates in the planning of menus which meet necessary nutrition and dietary needs. Updates allergy, intolerance & parent preference charts for classrooms and kitchen.Maintains safety and cleanliness standards in the kitchen areas.Assists with the purchasing and inventory of food supplies as needed.Maintains CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health Licensing records for meals and snacks.May be asked to support classroom staff by being in ratio3. Relationships:This position reports to the Child Care Program Director. The incumbent regularly interacts with participants, general public, staff, and volunteers.4. Qualifications:Required:Minimum age of 18Minimum of one (1) year of experience in food preparationProcess or ability to obtain Food Safe Certification by the county Public Health Department.Knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food handling and storageEffective interpersonal communication skillsAbility and desire to work with child care staff and other young people.Knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food handling and storage.Preferred:Education/training in nutrition.Dedication to the philosophy and mission of the YMCA programs.5. Work Conditions:Requires lifting up to 50 poundsRequires ability to safely operate all necessary kitchen equipment and cleaning supplies. (The incumbent utilizes equipment which can be potentially dangerous to include knives, warmers, dishwasher, and cleaning chemicals)Ability to stand for long periods of timeSelf-directed individual6.
