The Colonnade Hotel is an independent Boston hotel with 285 elegantly appointed rooms and luxury suites with 13,000 square feet of function space. Sophisticated travelers stay at The Colonnade for its tyle, personal service, and exceptional amenities.POSITION PURPOSE:The Banquet Cook will work in conjunction with our Culinary Team to handle all aspects of the food production for banquets, including food preparation according to the description, while adhering to sanitation practices.This is a full-time position, flexible schedule but mostly daytime shifts, some evening/night shifts depending on business needs.Responsibilities include but not limited to:* Prepare food for banquet events as listed on each Banquet Event Order* Maintain and strictly abide by State sanitation/Health regulations and Hotel requirements.* Check the quality of raw or cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.* Prepare and cook foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.* Organize all of the various prep items needed from different areas to ensure that all items are in place and ready for service.* Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by Health Department and Hotel requirements.* Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize and organize; follow directions thoroughly; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision.Skills, Abilities and Experience needed to be successful* A good knowledge and understanding of knife skills, sanitation and cooking methods and be able to apply them in food production.* 1-2 years prior banquet experience, preferably in a high, volume, upscale setting.* Culinary degree preferred.* Must have experience in hot food preparation and Garde Manger.* Organizational and communication skills a must.* Must be highly productive and organized, with an ability to work independently. Able to produce high quality product.* Food safety training certification highly desired.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
