Grow and develop ROC-DCs worker membership to build a powerful base of restaurant workers by;Conducting ongoing outreach to restaurant workersBuilding relationships with members and ensuring proper follow-ups and one-on-ones are being scheduled on a regular basisEngaging in organizing strategies and campaigns as neededTraining members to grow their leadership skills and knowledge of workers rightsPlanning, organizing, and facilitating worker meetings and events Providing organizing support to workers during workplace justice campaignsSupport ROC-DC in becoming a bilingual worker center by;Translating ROC-DC materials to be available in both Spanish and EnglishProviding trainings and political education sessions in SpanishFacilitating meetings in Spanish and support in the consecutive interpretation of bilingual membership spacesMaintain and build relationships with local organizations to increase solidarity among groups that work with low-income, workers of color, and immigrants by;Building and maintaining relationships with local community organizationsActively participating in local coalitions that will benefit ROC-DCs membership and larger labor movementContinuing to develop networks of solidarity through meetings, check-ins, and solidarity actionsREQUIREMENTSFluent in Spanish and English Deep commitment to racial, social, and economic justice and a willingness to workcollaboratively with persons of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds,socioeconomic status, ages, and sexual orientationsMinimum of two years of community or labor organizing or base building experienceStrong written, verbal, and listening skills Ability to work under pressure Willingness to travel and work flexible hoursSelf-motivated while working independently or with a team Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet & database, electroniccommunication, social media tools such as Twitter and facebook)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSRestaurant work experience Have a valid driver's license and access to an operating car with insuranceExperience with digital organizing and moving people from online to offline action; andKnowledge of District politics, layout, and historyIt will be important if you are good at; Building relationships with a diverse set of people and finding and learning the uniqueskills and talents that they could contribute to our programs and campaigns; Inspiring and motivating leaders and activists and your coworkers; Communicating both orally and in written form; Taking responsibility for your work and will creatively surmount obstacles; Being creative and adaptable; and Organizing with a commitment to mentoring people to be agents of their own liberation.
