The Menlo Tavern needs a strong, experienced and motivational manager for our awesome team of F&B Professionals. The individual in this position will take part in the preparation for our opening, including hiring, training and more. He/she will oversee the F&B team, including in-room dining and event staff.

The Restaurant Manager will effectively supervise and assist in the direction of the operation by providing quality service to our guests, excellent leadership to our employees and monitoring cost and inventory to ensure a profitable operation. Our managers are required to provide leadership, instruction and support for our staff. We are looking for individuals with energy, passion and a desire to grow within the industry.

Requirements:

  • Supervise the Restaurant, In-Room Dining and Bar staff, to include scheduling, enforcing service standards and the training and motivation of our associates.
  • Visually inspect the Restaurant and Bar and take action to ensure the restaurant is clean and organized and all equipment is in working order.
  • Assign and inspect all Restaurant associates side work daily.
  • Oversee the setting up of the dining room and service areas.
  • Regularly monitor product quality and plate presentation to ensure consistency of service standards.
  • Ensure food items are prepared to guest specifications by interacting with guests, ascertaining satisfaction and assisting in resolving the issue if a problem of dissatisfaction arises with the level of service or the food item requested.
  • Regularly monitor supplies, to include linen, glassware, china, silverware and condiments, to ensure the restaurant is properly stocked to meet the needs of business.
  • Monitor the payroll budget to ensure labor costs are aligned with the forecast and ensures all associates are taking their rest and meal periods on time.
  • Assists in conducting performance evaluations and coaches and counsels Restaurant associates when necessary.
  • Regularly assist the Restaurant Manager in conducting Restaurant staff meetings for the purpose of keeping the staff informed, providing training and to create a positive work environment.
  • Review the Reservation Book, Group Resumes, Event Schedules and daily reports to ensure the Restaurant is properly staffed to meet business demands.
  • Review, revise and approve daily payroll reports as needed.
  • Assist associates and may perform in the capacity of any of the positions supervised.
  • Document and submit a work order to report items that need to be repaired and follows up with Maintenance accordingly.
  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
  • The ability to effectively deal with employees and customers some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Able to write Food & Beverage reports, business correspondences, memos and employee performance evaluations
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to move through a crowded Restaurant to monitor activity.
  • Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic math skills that include the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Meets legal age requirements for the position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma is preferred. Previous Food and Beverage and/or Restaurant supervisory experience is preferred. Excellent wine knowledge is also preferred.
