Job Summary

Primary Role

Learns to manage the operations of a plasma collection facility, to include financial, marketing, administrative, regulatory, quality, personnel, and facilities management functions. Develops skill sets for forecasting and attaining production and cost goals while assuring compliance with company, local and federal regulations for a plasma center producing approximately 60,000 liters or more per year. Learns to monitor systems and activities to ensure that source plasma manufacturing is performed consistently according to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), the BioLife SOPs, and other applicable regulations. Responsible for driving self-development by seeking feedback from Training Manager and other leaders on a regular basis. The Manager Trainee Level I program will be for a period not to exceed 12 months. After completion of the Manager Trainee Level I program, Manager Trainee will have an additional 6 months to establish a management position.

Essential Functions


  • Develops the tools and skills needed to effectively manage the daily operations of a plasma center through classroom learning and hands-on training (80%)
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and company-specific rules, regulations, and practices related to quality, to the safety of products, donors, and employees and to the proper performance of day-to-day activities
    • Maintain qualifications and at minimum performs all required core duties for Medical History, Phlebotomy, Sample Processing and Operational Management areas. The Hiring Manager may require certain electives to ensure quality and production needs are met and/or to ensure all responsibilities are efficiently executed. Train new and existing staff on donor center procedures through demonstration, instruction, observation, and feedback.
    • Assists the center manager in identifying and implementing improvements and changes to center processes
    • Participates in the interviewing and selection of center staff

  • Fosters teamwork. Works collaboratively with staff, peers, and management to achieve business goals. Communicates continuously at all levels of the organization and resolves conflicts proactively. (15%)
  • Ensures high levels of customer service and satisfaction. Meets and strives to exceed customer expectations. (5%)

Education & Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent amount of leadership experience (approx. 3 or more years), preferably in a medical or other regulated field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be willing to relocate at completion of training program.
  • Computer skills in word processing required and skills in spreadsheets and databases highly desirable.

Other Requirements

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license for the entire duration of the program.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%-85% of the time for duration of training program
  • Production environment requiring the ability to walk and stand for the entire work shift.
  • Requires frequent leaning, bending, stooping, crouching, and reaching above the shoulders and below the knee. Requires frequent lifting up to 32 pounds, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have fine motor coordination, depth perception, and ability to hear equipment sounds from a distance.
  • Due to potential exposure to blood borne pathogens (risk level 1), 90% of production based work tasks require pro-longed glove wear.
