Seeking an outstanding, wine-savvy server for Corso Ristorante in Berkeley.
Qualified candidates will have:
-2 or more years' experience in fine dining
-Good to extensive wine knowledge, especially Italian (CMS certification a huge plus)
-An innate sense of hospitality, a love of food and drink, and a continuing desire to learn.
-Experience with ALOHA POS system
-The ability to work nights and weekends, including Sundays
Salary is $15.59 per hour plus tips, sales are anywhere from $1200-$3500 a night. Hours are evenings only starting at 3:45-4:15 to 10:00-12:00.
The position is 3-4 shifts per week, schedule is not set at present, but will include Sunday. Ability to fill in other nights a huge plus. More shifts would be offered as they come available, which can happen, but we do not have huge turnover rate. Ability to bus, bartend or host would help us and increase your hours. Our wait staff find Corso a good place to work and usually leave to pursue other goals instead of other restaurants.
Corso is an award-winning restaurant featuring Florentine cuisine with California influences. We have been featured in all major culinary publications, are Michelin Recommended, currently have 4.5 points for food with Zagat, and are featured in their "Best Restaurants in Berkeley" page.
Co-Owner/Executive Chef Wendy Brucker has trained in some of the finest restaurants in the Bay Area. She's worked under such notable Bay Area Chefs as Joyce Goldstein, Jeremiah Tower and Jacky Robert and was a SF Chronicle Rising Star Chef Inaugural Class 1993. Chef de Cuisine Louis LeGassic was formerly the chef of the sadly now closed Bay Wolf. Co-Owner Roscoe Skipper is a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers. Certified Sommelier Justin Sutton curates the wine list and runs Corso's bar program.

Corso is a Florentine inspired restaurant on Shattuck Avenue near Downtown Berkeley. The San Francisco Chronicle awarded us Top 10 Best New Restaurants 2008 and Top 100 Best Restaurants 2008 and 2009. We also were Runner Up in Diablo Magazine's Best Restaurants 2009. Chef de Cuisine Louis Le Gassac was chef at Baywolf in Oakland for eight years. Chef Le Gassac trained under chefs Mike Tusk and Paul Canales at Oliveto. Executive Chef/Owner Wendy Brucker has worked in many of the top restaurants in the Bay Area and has been Chef/Owner of Rivoli Restaurant for 23 years. Rivoli was named to the Top 100 Restaurants 17 straight years. She was named a Rising Star Chef in 1993 and has been featured in all the local and national food magazines.
