The Aronimink Pastry Chef will work alongside the Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine providing successful leadership and management in the kitchen. The Pastry Chef will ensure clear and consistent communications in the kitchen as it pertains to expectations, organization, food cost, labor cost, food presentation, and the overall Member and guest dining experience.
A la carte Dining The Aronimink Golf Club Pastry Chef is responsible for the successful creation of la carte dessert offerings throughout the multiple venues at the club, as well as club events that request a la carte dessert selections. The Pastry Chef will work directly with the Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, and Sous Chef in creating excellent dessert menu selections and an overall memorable food experience for Members and guests, consistent with the Aronimink Brand. The Pastry Chef will communicate and collaborate with fellow culinary management in the creation of the a la carte dessert menu offerings, daily specials, and dietary / heart healthy offerings that are consistent with dessert trends in the industry.
Club Events / BanquetsThe Pastry Chef will work directly with the Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine, overseeing the entire culinary operation as it pertains to the dessert offerings for both Club Member Events and Private Banquets. The Pastry Chef will communicate and collaborate with the Executive Chef, Event Chef, Clubhouse Manager, and Events Manager to come up with dessert offerings that are consistent with dessert trends in the industry.
Responsibilities / Job Duties: -Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, breads, ice cream, pastries, etc. following traditional and modern recipes.-Creating new and exciting desserts to renew the club menus and engage the interest of the membership.-Decorating pastries and other desserts using different icings, toppings, etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.-Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, etc. and make appropriate orders with budget parameters.-Check quality of material and condition of the equipment and devices used for baking and cooking.-Develop creative and customized desserts, cakes, and baked good for banquets and weddings.-Maintain a stock of sample pastries that can be presented to people considering selecting Aronimink as their venue of choice for their event.-Meet with Members and guests reserving banquet space to discuss dessert needs and any special requests. -The Pastry Chef must be well organized in planning the a la carte dessert menu.-Being creative with dessert banquet selections, communicating and collaborating with the Events Manager is critical to this role. -Ensuring the cost of the dessert stays within prescribed budget guidelines is a vital aspect while developing dessert menus.-Ensuring that the pastry area of the kitchen is always clean and meets all state and local health code requirements. -Strong communication skills are required to help the Member/guest make dessert choices.
Job Duties:-Preparing quality desserts and presenting it in an attractive manner are the main goals of the Pastry Chef. -Maintain a positive disposition with Members, guests and Team members.-The Pastry Chef is required to follow safe food storage and handling guidelines and monitor Team members to make sure they comply as well. -Recipes created must be standardized and accurate to guarantee consistency. -Is expected to be resourceful and creative to effectively handle problems related to food shortages, food preparation mistakes and extra guests.-The Pastry Chef's schedule must be flexible and usually include evenings, weekends and holidays. -The Pastry Chef is expected to wear attire appropriate for teh position.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:-A Culinary / Pastry Degree is preferred.-Three to five years' experience as an Assistant Pastry chef or Pastry Chef, preferably in the Club business.-Must have the ability to multi-task while remaining focused on the goal.-Must have excellent verbal communication skills.-Be able to express creativity through dessert selections, preparation and presentation.-Must be detail oriented.-Must have the ability to remain calm in high stress situations.-Be able to solve problems quickly under pressure.-In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, and baking techniques, including pastry limitations (gluten free, sugarless, etc.). -A passion for continued professional growth in the field of culinary arts and pastries.

Additional ResponsibilitiesEnsure that sanitation standards as set forth by AGC, local, state, and federal regulations comply as well as the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.Set up control systems which will assure quality and portion consistency and the ability to create proper purchasing specifications as well as monitor and review operating criteria and develop an awareness of the importance of food preparation and quality.Communicate with Team Members and Managers to ensure operational needs are met as well as attend weekly Food & Beverage meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation with regards to Food & Beverage.Work harmoniously and professionally with the culinary management team, Hospitality Managerial Team and fellow Team members.
Skills and Abilities: Requires a working knowledge of culinary operations as well as AGC cultural and core standards, policies, and standard operating procedures.
