Food Service Worker Part-Time Washington Veterans Home Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025. This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules. The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the recruitment for a part-time Food Service Worker at our Washington Veterans Home in Port Orchard. Shifts Available: Split Shift: 5:30 am - 11:30 am & 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm Days off: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Some of what you will be doing: This is a Food Service Worker position in the satellite meal service areas or main kitchen of the Washington Veterans Home, maintaining secondary responsibility for basic food handling for all meals served to residents. Works in a food service department in a health care institution which provides 30,000 plus meal equivalents per month. Approximately 70% of the meal and meal equivalents require modifications to meet resident's special meal/diet needs. Key Responsibilities: Portion and dish-up foods for service in the cafeteria or on the serving line following portions specified on serving guides and recipes. Prepare food, clean and sanitize equipment and area, and comply with safe food handling practices. Perform a variety of food preparation duties following specific sanitation principles and utilizing safe working methods.Please Note: For positions required to have Food Handlers Permits, this is the correct website you can obtain a valid Washington State permit from: Required Qualifications: Current, Valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit Ability to lift/push/pull frequently up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds Preferred Qualifications: Degree or certificate in Culinary Arts. Serve Safe certified. Experience with geriatric and/or healthcare institutional setting. Experience working with residents with dementia and/or mental health diagnoses.
