As a Marketing Coordinator, you will be a key part of AAHOA's Marketing and Communications group, enabling AAHOA to achieve its mission and vision by maximizing the scale, impact, and exposure of AAHOA offerings to its membership base, including professional development opportunities, member outreach campaigns, and AAHOA events. You'll report directly to the Marketing Manager and work closely with those in the marketing and communications department and other AAHOA Executive Leadership Team members.


Your daily mission will propel AAHOA to be the foremost resource for hotel industry leadership and information by promoting AAHOA offerings to members, non-members, and other critical stakeholders in the hospitality industry. In addition, you will be responsible for driving a deep connection to our membership base and the industry and bringing a passion for innovating our external and internal communications practices in a constantly changing environment.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for marketing strategies supporting the AAHOA Education group, AAHOA Membership group, AAHOA Advocacy group, and AAHOA specialty events, among other assigned duties.
  • Manage, research, develop, and create content for marketing deliverables, including email marketing, social media marketing, brochures, marketing assets, videos, infographics, flyers, website content, and more.
  • Produce collateral for the membership and education teams that promote AAHOA's value proposition related to membership and professional development opportunities.
  • Support AAHOA's ongoing offerings related to member-centric webcasts, workshops, events, and more.
  • Support the membership department with marketing collateral and assets to attract new members, retain existing members, and increase membership overall.
  • Maintain certain sections of the AAHOA website related to membership, education, the AAHOA Hotel Owners AcademyTM, and strategic events.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of AAHOA's mission and vision, and focus and work to develop an exceptional knowledge of AAHOA's voice, offerings, and value proposition.
  • Support the association's appearance at other industry trade shows with the coordination of marketing materials to increase visibility among industry audiences.
  • Become familiar with the ongoing work that AAHOA does in the industry to further its strategic plan and vision to be the foremost resource and advocate for America's hotel owners.


Additional Qualifications

  • Exposure to associations/association management and knowledge or experience in the hospitality or education industries is a huge plus.
  • Demonstrated skill in writing and editing for marketing materials, with the ability to convey complex information clearly, concisely, and compellingly.
  • Deep understanding of marketing best practices and a passion for your work.
  • Ability to adjust messages and content for a variety of audiences.
  • Passionate about AAHOA's work and our mission.
  • Self-directed with great initiative and a sense of ownership.
  • Interest and experience in conducting research, including data, proof points, and anecdotes to include in materials.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related discipline.
  • 2+ years in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • Cultural awareness and respect for the industry and the company's historical successes, the impact of change on its present, and the ability to build support and passion for an evolving vision for the future.
  • Attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills.
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to jump in and help whenever needed.
  • Excellent communication, writing, editing, and project management skills.
  • Strong planning and project management with excellent time-management skills.
  • Sound judgment under pressure and demonstrated ability to solve issues creatively.
  • A collaborative, results-oriented leadership style and the desire to roll up one's sleeves and get things done.
  • An eye for detail and design related to marketing assets and materials.
  • Experience using an email marketing service (Constant Contact, MailChimp, HubSpot, ClickDimensions, etc.).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), the Google suite of products (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms), and/or Basecamp project management software
  • Familiarity with Canva and the ability to produce marketing materials from templates, adhering to brand guidelines
