The Marina team in provides outstanding levels of service to our diverse and worldly guests, acting as ambassadors of the Lodge and all that Northwest Montana offers. Our full service Marina provides rental power watercraft, rental paddlecraft and fuel sales, in addition to slip rentals, on Whitefish Lake. A Dock Attendant plays a key role in the operation of the Marina Department of The Lodge at Whitefish Lake. Our ideal candidate will use their experience and knowledge of marina and boating operations to maintain all vessels, equipment, and infrastructures to advance the customer experience of Lodge guests. A Dock Attendant will participate in daily operations with efficiency, integrity, patience, awareness, and compassion. They will play a large role in communication, development, and problem resolution all the while providing outstanding service to our guests along the way. They will act as an advocate for the marina, be a creator of ridiculously personal experiences, and develop relationships with guests that will compel them to return. Job Responsibilities MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Transport guests safely to and from their destination. Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of the vessels. Maintains engines and systems up to factory or above specifications. Maintains all shipboard safety equipment and verifies it is valid, functional, and inspected as necessary. Repairs or replaces all operational and safety systems, as needed. Maintains pier and shack appearance Keeps an accurate daily summary of rentals and the number of people aboard. Inspects vessels to ensure efficient and safe operation of vessels and equipment, and conformance to regulations. Steers and operates vessels, using radios, depth finders, radars, lights, and buoys. Additional Responsibilities: Oversees daily operations including: check-out/in's, fueling, parking of boats, etc. Helps train new hires for day-to-day operations Launches all vessels for customers Test runs and operates all vessels and systems Working weekends and holidays; days and nights, may be required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements and Core Competencies - SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY Knowledge of Marina, Local and State laws and procedures. Should be able to make decisions in the best interest of the hotel. Ability to interpret instructions and guidelines set by the hotel's policy and procedures. SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the General Manager based upon the requirements of the company. • Participate in industry organizations. • Maintain an open line of communication between guests, employees, and management. • This position may be required to perform other and additional duties assigned by the Marina Manager. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS EDUCATION Preference for a 4-year degree EXPERIENCE/ LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES Must have experience maneuvering and docking 21'-30' vessels in challenging conditions Have good interpersonal skills and excellent communication and leadership skills. Knowledge of area waters, specifically in and around Whitefish Lake Solid understanding of the area's weather patterns Must be able to safely navigate waterways Must be able to read gauges to verify sufficient levels of hydraulic fluid, air pressure, and oxygen Must have Boater's License (Driver's license in the state of Montana) Physical Requirements PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FREQUENCY KEY: Rare- Up to 1 hour, Occasional- 1 to 3 hours, Frequent 3 to 6 hours, Constant- 6 to 8 hours PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FREQUENCY Sitting Occasional Walking, climbing stairs Constant Crouching/Bending/Stooping Constant Reaching Frequent Grasping Frequent Pushing/Pulling Frequent Near Vision Constant Far Vision Constant Hearing Constant Talking Constant Lifting/Carrying (20 lbs.) Additional InformationSCHEDULE / HOLIDAYS/ PTO: The Dock Attendant is expected to normally keep a set schedule, adjusted as needed according to occupancy and business needs, and be available for peak guest times. Working evenings, weekends and holidays is required, and the Dock Attendant will participate in emergency coverage with the marina team while working.
