Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic team member to help with maintaining a clean building and safe atmosphere for the children and assist the chef with kitchen duties.

Primrose School of Schertz located at 4993 Schertz Parkway Shertz, TX 78154 is in search of a Food Service Teacher Assistant and School Support person.

As a Food Service Teacher Assistant you will help serve health and delicious meals for children.

As School Support Staff at Primrose School of Schertz you will help maintain a clean environment for young minds to explore, discover and understand the world around them.
Primrose School of Schertz is an accredited private preschool that provides a premier educational child care experience. We offer year-round programs for children from infant through elementary-aged school age.

Primary Responsibilities:
Observes all rules and regulations at Primrose School of Schertz and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
Maintains a keen awareness of children that have allergies and food restrictions. Offers substitute items to children who may be allergic or have other food restrictions
Ensures food service area and food is free of nuts, nut products or food items that have been processed in a facility that also processes nut products according to the policies and procedures of the Primrose School of Schertz.
Follows the daily menu prepared in collaboration with the Chef and Director
Follows portion control standards for lunch and snacks in preparations
Is adaptable and implements changes in menus, if instructed to do so
Ensures that each meal is ready to be served when scheduled
Maintains an orderly, clean and safe kitchen area at all times, including the proper maintenance of equipment
Maintains an attractive, well-kept school that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
Washing dishes from the daily prep and serving of food items
Disinfection of toys and the building fixtures
Washing classroom items, such as linens, puppets, dress up items
Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
Is responsible for the overall appearance of the building, inside and outside.
Overall property cleaning and other misc tasks to ensure we have the best environment for our children and families
Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children and families.
Assists in other capacities that Director, or designee, determines is necessary

This is a full time position: hours are Monday- Friday 9:30am-6:30pm (1 hour lunch provided)

Desired skills and experience:

Must meet basic education and background check requirements of local child care regulatory agency
Must meet basic requirements of service regulatory agencies
Knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of young children
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. in connection with the handling potential emergency situations in addition to managing heavy loads of laundry or trash
Must be able to stand for a minimum of 5 hours without a break
