The Research and Development Division of Hitachi America, Ltd. (), HAL-R&D, is part of the Hitachi global R&D organization, contributing to the overall strategy of Hitachi to grow through its Social Innovation Business through digital and environmental technologies for the sustainable development of society and well-being of its inhabitants worldwide. We are currently looking for a Senior Communications Specialist with exceptional communication skills both verbal and written, and a passion for effective technology story-telling, to join the Planning and Program Management Office of Hitachi America - R&D located in Santa Clara, CA. They will be a key member in the global R&D communication team and play a central role in developing and implementing a communications strategy that positions Hitachi R&D as a world-leader in digital innovation that contributes to the sustainable development of society and the well-being of its citizens worldwide as well as in North America. The Senior Communications Specialist is expected to be an innovative and strategic thinker, organized and self-motivated, with meticulous attention to detail and keen interest in driving the right strategic messages to key internal and external audiences.
ResponsibilitiesBrand manager for Hitachi America R&D. Create and manage promotion plans, including timelines, etc., ensuring consistent delivery of messages across different mediums. Work with key internal players to brainstorm content ideas in line with R&D strategy and brand initiatives. Plan and coordinate (write if necessary), review, edit and distribute various types of content promoting R&D activities and contributions, including material for websites, social media, press releases, journal articles, events and other types of content, both digital and print, for an external audience. Help set-up interviews and seek other promotional opportunities. Support and help manage internal and external promotional events, either as the communications representative from Hitachi America R&D or Hitachi global R&D, or as a member of the Planning and Program Management Office. This may include and is not limited to, coordination with event organizers, program arrangement, speaker and participant logistics, registrations, content preparation, and so on. Content management of the Hitachi America R&D external and internal websites. Work with the Planning and Program Management Office team to plan and prepare contents for internal websites including the Hitachi America R&D staff portal, such as newsletters, and activity reports to keep all employees connected and effectively informed of executive communications, internal and external promotion activities. Work closely with Hitachi executives and other staff members to prepare presentations, talking points and speeches for internal and external events. Find new effective mechanisms to publicize research information, external awards and increase Research and Development Group visibility Vendor relations to support the above activities.
RequirementsBachelor s degree in media and communications, English, journalism, public relations, or a related field of study. (Required) A minimum of 8-10 years working experience as a communications specialist, marketing, public relations, or a related role. (Required) Experience in communications strategy development. (Required) In-depth knowledge of industry best practices Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
