Job Description

Position Summary: The Hotel Indigo Downtown and the American Hotel Downtown, Catering Sales Manager will be responsible for developing catering business and executing tactical sales plan strategy. Prospect groups and ensuring that revenue goals are achieved or exceeded by soliciting, developing and closing local corporate and social group business.

Primary Duties:

  • Pursuing new and repeat catering business that fits the hotel sales parameters per guidelines established by the VP of Sales
  • Handling catering sales for meetings, conferences and special events
  • Driving and executing all aspects of in-house events for assigned catering groups to include managing the preparation of BEOs (banquet event orders) of client specifications, diagrams, audio-visual requirements, and/or VIP amenity requests
  • Scheduling and facilitating pre and post conference meetings as necessary
  • Establishing a strong networking presence within the local hotel community
  • Developing and engaging in relationship-driven and long-term business relationships
  • Meeting with the catering and operations teams regarding details for upcoming events including event logistics, food presentation, and arrival/departure timelines
  • Making presence known to customer during the event and being available to solve issues and/or suggest alternatives to previous arrangements
  • Interacting with guests to solicit feedback on product quality and overall guest satisfaction with areas such as guest rooms, meeting facilities and equipment, food and beverage, and service levels throughout the planning process
  • Creating awareness of groups in all internal staff, communicating information with other hotel departments in a timely manner to facilitate efficient purchasing, scheduling and staffing
  • Providing personal attention to clients while they are at the hotel to ensure total guest satisfaction
  • Developing relationships with local vendors for table arrangements, limousines, photographers, etc.
  • Assisting in the development of banquet menus and pricing
  • Conducting site inspections with potential clients
  • Maintaining accuracy of Catering information in Sales Pro / Catering / CITY
  • Consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals


  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Hospitality Management, Marketing, Business, or a related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in catering, hotel or restaurant sales
  • A creative and analytical mind with strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Strong teamwork skills including the ability to communicate, cooperate, motivate and contribute as part of a team with representatives from multiple disciplines and various levels of the organization
  • Results and deadline driven
  • Flexibility to adapt to fast-paced, changing deadlines, and balancing multiple projects
  • Able to work independently and multi-task while being productive and timely
  • Working knowledge of Delphi FDC, MS Word, Excel, Power Point and industry related CRM's
  • High level of organizational skills
  • Must be able to work weekends, when needed
