General Purpose:

Manages the operation of the Dining Services Department to include staffing, food ordering, and preparation, food delivery and clean-up in accordance with facility policies, physician orders, resident care plans and appropriate regulations. Responsible for directing various duties in and around the kitchen, including preparation of various portions of meals, presentations of food and delivery of food.

Primary Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

  • To provide quality innovative and memorable culinary experiences for our residents
  • Experience with creative exciting food, menu planning and production skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of kitchen health and sanitation regulations
  • Completes requisitions and purchase of supplies, equipment and food
  • Ability to lead a team and supervise preparation and serving of food
  • Reviews resident diet information and care plans, discusses with resident, family, and nursing staff as necessary to make appropriate changes
  • Reports and documents resident changes in consumption or behaviors appropriately
  • Leads by example, fosters open communication and resolves conflict in a constructive manner. Manages and coaches department staff; establishes and maintains culture that supports the mission/vision of the organization and facility
  • Ensures department employees are appropriately recruited, selected, provided effective onboarding and training. Holds employees accountable to clear performance expectations
  • Schedules appropriate staffing levels in department to meet facility needs

  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required and minimum of 2-3 years applicable work experience. Previous cooking experience and knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred
  • Registered Dietician or Certified Dietary Manager (preferred; or willingness to attain certification in 6 months.)
