Were seeking a Full-Time Cook II at Challenge Unlimited, Inc., in Rantoul, IL.

* Pay Rate: $15.88 per hour, plus great benefits!
* Shift: 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday
* Location: Rantoul-Lincoln Challenge Academy

Job Details:

* Prepare meals by following recipes. Gather all needed equipment and supplies for the meal(s). Wash, peel, seed vegetables and fruits and cut various food items including meats, poultry, and seafood. Measure and assemble ingredients and cook items according to recipes, having the ability to convert the recipes to the proper amount as specified on the production sheet and menu specifications. Dip food items in crumbs, flour, and batter to bread them. Stirs and strains soups and sauces. Grill, deep fry, bake, broil, and microwave raw and prepped foods as designated by the predetermined menu. Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality, and in a timely fashion.
* Perform work according to the contracts statement of work, company policies, and procedures with a special focus on safety, quality, and customer service. Direct the preparation of food; prepare and serve food; arrange and direct the appropriate storage of food and supplies. Follow schedules and/or task assignments as directed. Help communicate job expectations to new-hires or others in need of assistance. Assist with training and helping co-workers. Report issues and needs to Project Manager. Implement feedback for improvement. Assist with building an effective company culture that embodies our Company values to achieve optimum performance levels and achieve goals and objectives.
* Support crew members by providing timely and thorough training and feedback. Oversee new worker training and ongoing training for all members of the crew.
* Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment and assuring proper use of company resources. Obtain tools necessary for the job to be completed. Inform the Project Manager of any needs which cannot be satisfied with current equipment and supplies. Advise Project Manager in timely fashion as additional supplies are needed. Maintain equipment by performing preventative and minor maintenance.
* Maintain quality control standards. Complete regular inspections and promptly correct any deficiencies and rectify any customer complaints.
* Assist crew in completing contract required tasks. Serves portions of food on trays and/or plates. Prepares the dining and serving areas by setting up counters and tables. Prepares pot and pan area, utilizing the three sink method, as required. Scrapes excess product from dishes and utensils prior to washing. Empties trash containers as needed. Mops up any spills and completely mops the kitchen floor at the end of the shift.

Perform other related duties and assignments as required.


* 2 years of combined food service experience which may include serving, food ordering, preparation, cooking, dish machine and beverage dispenser operation, preferably in a cafeteria or banquet type environment, with at least 1 year experience in a supervisory or training role preferred.
* Currently possess Food Sanitation License, CPR Certification and First Aid Certification (or be able to obtain license & certifications within 6 months of employment; cannot fail Food Service exam twice in a 6 month period)
* Must pass criminal background check
* Must pass various State and Federal registry checks.
* Must pass driving history check and Company policy criteria, maintain valid drivers license and be 21 or older to drive.
