Job Description

The Manhattan NYC, an Affinia Hotel, is currently looking for an experienced Catering Sales Manager to join our team:
Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Spend 90% of time selling and prospecting new catering business with a focus on expanding our social event market.
  • Sell and detail catering meetings & events for designated hotels.
  • Cross sell New York properties with a focus on social events.
  • Answer all catering inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Participate in quarterly Sales Blitz.
  • Use marketing tools such as Knowland, Hoover and Delphi to prospect new business.
  • Create quarterly social event promotions for new and existing clients.
  • Attend trade shows, professional meetings, etc at least 2 per quarter.
  • Attend a minimum of 1 networking event per month.
  • Give site tours of hotel meeting space and hotel rooms.
  • Work within clients' budgets by menu planning, forecasting costs, etc.
  • Sell and detail catering meetings & events for designated hotels.
  • Responsible for processing all contracts.
  • Schedule & lead pre-con meeting with clients to review orders, details, etc. and proactively address any issues before event begins.
  • Responsible for coordinating with designated property on all menus, set-ups and billing.
  • Attend weekly BEO meetings for designated hotel.
  • Review all details of events with hotel operation team to ensure quality and client satisfaction.
  • Review final Banquet Check for all catering meetings and events and post in Opera.

Experience/Qualification Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Catering or Event Sales at hotel property or New York City event venue.
  • Active New York City social and client base that can be called upon for business.
  • Experience with event operations including set-ups, capacities and service.
  • Experience prospecting and soliciting new business.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of personal computers and various property specific applications, such as Opera, Word, Excel, Outlook, Synxis, Delphi, Internet.
