an experienced Work Study - Food Services - Wylie .

Job Summary
Perform a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving foods and beverages for the college food service operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Set up food service, kitchen, and salad area facilities, equipment and utensils under detailed instruction. Convey food and supplies from the main kitchen, bakery, and/or salad preparation area to the serving site either by carrying or by utilizing a motorized cart. Follow prescribed procedures in setting up hot and cold food lines; choose proper utensils and sets steam line to appropriate temperature for menu items. Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of hot and cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, salads, sandwiches, pie fillings, simple bakery items, salad dressings, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position. Serve food items to customers from counters and/or steam tables, in accordance with specific instructions, ensuring that appropriate portions are served. May serve a range of hot and cold food items from counters and steam tables. Replenish foods, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays at serving stations. Attends to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions. May clean and maintain work areas, including floors, facilities, utensils, and equipment; collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers; as appropriate to the area of operation. Wash pots, pans, and other service ware ensuring sanitary handling; organizes and replaces service ware to appropriate location. May perform cashiering duties, as required. May provide guidance and training to other employees performing related work. Perform other duties as assigned. Perform all duties and maintains all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and Core Values.

Required Qualifications:
Work Study Employees must have and maintain satisfactory academic progress of a 2.0 overall GPA or better at Collin College. Some departments require higher GPA. Work Study employees must remain enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during the semester in which they have a Work Study assignment. In order to be eligible for a summer Work Study assignment, students must have been awarded summer Work Study funds and be enrolled in at least 6 hours at Collin College during the summer.

**This position is Work Study (WS) funded. Students must have been awarded WS funds through Collin College for the current academic year and must accept their WS award in order to be considered for this position. Due to limited availability of WS funds, not all posted WS positions may be filled. Before a WS job offer may be extended, final WS award authorization from the Financial Aid office is required.**

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of food service operations. Ability to perform work involving standing, stooping and lifting Ability to lift 40 pounds Ability to use utensils and equipment relating to food service operations. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Licenses and Certifications

Will be required to complete Food Handler's certification provided by the employer.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.

Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work.
Frequent physical effort required.
