Job Description

Beef 'n Bun, located in El Cajon, California, is seeking someone who has a love of food and cooking. This is a full-time position for a Line Cook who can work quickly and efficiently, has the endurance to work in a noisy, stressful environment and routinely stand on their feet for the duration of their shift. They should be excellent at time management and should be willing to help out any team member who is behind on time. The ability to communicate and work well with a team is critical for this role.

  • Food prep
  • Memorize and comprehend all menu item recipes, food appearance and portions
  • Follow standard recipes and special order items by the customer
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work varied hours, including days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served
  • Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
  • Open and Closes the kitchen properly and follows the checklists. Assists others in opening or closing the kitchen.
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Management Team
  • Previous experience in kitchen preparation and cooking preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and time management of orders going out
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, front kitchen and back kitchen team members
  • Ability to move fast and thrive in a fast-paced environment
