Job Description

Caldera House is a luxury hotel and commercial property dedicated to perfecting the travel experience through the highest standards of hospitality. The Sous Chef is a strategic partner in creating an unparalleled hospitality experience for the hotel guests, members, and visitors of Caldera House.

The Sous Chef will maintain smooth operation of the Kitchen during assigned shift & ensures food is prepared according to Chef's specifications and trains employees to the hotel / kitchen standards. The Sous Chef roll is a full-time, year-round salaried position.

Essential Job Duties

  • Ensure all staff has arrived and is performing their tasks correctly and efficiently
  • Maintain order and discipline in the kitchen
  • Check that the kitchen is being run according to Serv Safe standards
  • Ensure all equipment is in proper working order and all spaces are hygienic and organized
  • Work with the executive chef to produce menu items
  • Take initiative in the kitchen to ensure proper and timely delivery of food
  • Train other kitchen staff members to provide the best quality dishes
  • Organize a schedule for prep cooks
  • Organize cleaning of all kitchen spaces
  • Communicate with the Sous on the other shifts about anything pertinent


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years experience in a culinary role
  • Culinary degree or equivalent
  • Passion for food and beverage
  • Strong communication and time management skills
