Job Description



As a Catering and Sales Manager, you will be responsible for managing all banquets and events in the hotel to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. And you'll develop and implement strategies to ensure revenue and room night sales goals are achieved, sales and marketing strategies are set, tactical plans are created and implemented, and results are monitored and achieved with the highest standards:

• Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/team sales goals and maximize profitability.

• Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget, the hotel marketing plan and business plan as well as financial plans.

• Create and implement sales plans that drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, increase volume, food and beverage and banquet sales.

• Review monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan.

• Create and develop special events and sales blitzes to showcase the hotel to potential clients. Attend trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sales and marketing opportunities for the hotel.

    -Maintain exceptional levels of customer service
    -Evaluate guest satisfaction levels with a focus on continuous improvement
    -Propose ideas to build the range and quality of Conference and Banquet
    -Optimise sales and contain costs, identifying any areas for action
    -Maintain good communication and work relationships in all hotel areas and with external customers and suppliers
    -Ensure staffing levels meet business demands
    -Ensure training is carried out on an ongoing basis
    -Ensure communication meetings are conducted and post-meeting minutes generated
    -Manage staff performance issues in compliance with company policies and procedures
    -Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation

Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Participate in activities include sales calls, entertainment, trade shows and so on.

• To achieve budgeted segment revenue set by the management and maintain existing accounts by regular visits and work towards bringing in new accounts. Study competition accounts and work towards converting them to use our hotel.

• Acts as customer liaison with hotel during customer event/program ensuring daily needs are met.

• Develop and implement creative social media channels.

• Proactively identifies, qualifies and solicits business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.

• Understands the overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them

•Closes the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and hotel needs.

• Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.

• Effectively develops relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for group/catering sales opportunities

•Communicating client requirements in a timely and accurate manner to all internal departments as required, ensuring delivery of superior guest service.
