SCHEDULE : Part-time; hours not to exceed 19 per week.

  • AM shifts : between the hours of Mon. - Fri. 7:45am-12:30pm OR
  • PM shifts : between the hours of Mon. - Fri. 3:45pm-8:00pm and Sat. 7:45am-12:30pm

NOTE : This is NOT a seasonal position. This is a regular, year-round part-time position.

Under direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader assists in the coordination and instruction of recreation programs, child care room, day camps, activities, events, and athletics including implementing recreation and athletic programs. This is accomplished by monitoring instructors and program participants of the Recreation Division's programs at City facilities. Other duties include administrative support, on-site supervision and instruction of programs and/or athletics.


  1. Assist in the coordination of athletic, child care room and recreation programs, opening, cleaning, and securing recreational facilities, organizing materials and supplies needed for activities, monitoring program participants and instructors, supervise children in the child care room, day camps, athletics and special events.
  2. Provide administrative and clerical support to staff by assisting in scheduling facilities, taking reservations, collecting fees, and providing receipts.
  3. Lead, supervise and conduct athletic, child care room and recreation program classes and activities.
  4. Supervise children properly and respond immediately during emergencies, including administering first aid as necessary.
  5. Properly clean, disinfect, and maintain all recreation equipment and play surfaces.
  6. Effectively communicate with children, parents/guardians, and the public.
  7. Conduct oneself at all times in a manner of professionalism that aligns with the values, philosophies, and standards of the City and facility. This includes wearing appropriate attire and nametag.
  8. Attend all scheduled employee meetings.
  9. Provide positive and enthusiastic customer service to all members and guests. Greet members and guests by name.
  10. Adhere to all written mandatory standards of operation, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, verbal instructions, etc.


  1. Support all youth, volunteer, civic and cultural activities in which the City participates.
  2. Arrive to work on time as scheduled, in the appropriate work attire.
  3. The ability to work various shifts, including days, evenings and weekends.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.


  1. High School diploma or working towards high school diploma or GED.
  2. 3 months full time or 6 months part time experience supervising children ages 6 months - 12 years old in recreation and/or educational programs. Previous summer camp experience preferred.
  3. 18 years of age or older.
  4. Current Ellis & Assoc. or American Red Cross Adult/Child CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications or the ability to obtain upon employment offer.
  5. Ability to motivate and maintain a positive atmosphere, and if necessary, use positive disciplinary techniques.
  6. Good verbal and written skills.
  7. Valid Texas Driver's License and a safe driving record.
  8. No visible tattoos or unnatural hair color. No piercings to be worn visible during shift.
  9. Non-smoker preferred.

This position will require physical exertion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to grasp, handle, feel, type, listen, hear, reach, see, speak, walk, sit, and stand for long periods. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, carry, lift up to 75lbs, read documents and a computer screen. Work is generally performed outdoors in extreme heat and indoors in a climate-controlled environment.

Job Requirements:
  • Assist in the kids programs, recreation/gym counter, senior center, and/or events such as parade
  • Conduct various activities for children
  • Informing children of the day's activities and explaining all rules and regulations
  • Provide data to department head and recreation specialist for completion or required documentation and completion of MDS
  • Encourage residents participation and assists in transportation of residents to programs
  • Implement daily recreation program for the residents of assigned unit under the guidance of the department head
  • Supervising and conducting various activities for children including but not limited to Honolulu Zoo trip
  • Assisting with the implementation of recreational programs and activities for people of all ages
  • Leading and directing children through supervised recreational activities in the hotels continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability
  • Maintain adequate amount of supplies and equipment for use in recreational activities

  • Supervising children ages 5 - 12 in various recreational activities on and off hotel property and act as caregiver to ensure the children's' safety and enjoyment

  • Set up registration table including, money and receipt box and registration booklet
  • Inform children of the day's activities and explain all rules and regulations
  • Ensure that proper recreational activities are selected to assist resident in meeting goals
  • Ensure all children are accounted for throughout the day and release children at end of program by confirming signature of authorized guardian
  • Ensure that the proper supplies including color crayons, coloring books, glue, paper, pencils, board games and craft supplies are
