Reporting to the Assistant Managerof Roasting and receiving direction from the Senior Certified Roasting Trainer, the Roaster Trainee will complete a certification process in roasting profiles and processes. The overall function is to become a certified roaster within the committed period of time. He or she will gain a full understanding of roast curves, roasting systems software and ancillary systems relating to roasting. The Roaster Trainee is a full-time, non-exempt position.The roaster trainee will learn basic operations of the GHS system and Microsoft Dynamics AX. Become proficient at cupping room tasks and develop tasting skills.Learn basic ICO marks, internal reference codes, bag weights and Peet's blends.Mentored by a Senior Certified Roasting Trainer, learn the functionality of Peet's roasting equipment, understand general maintenance and acquire the skills to roast independently.Will be taught the theory of roasting and expected to apply it to daily roasts.Continual roasting of high demand full batch size coffees will be part of the certification process to achieve the status of a full Level I Roaster.Other responsibilities as assigned by the assistant manager of roasting.Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently for long periods of time.Ambitious, punctual, and open to learning and receiving regular constructive criticism.Must be able to master a skill and execute it consistently on a daily basis.Computer savvy with experience using multiple forms of Microsoft.Acute sensory skills.Capacity to learn and apply Peet's standard operating procedures.Completed REC program Capable of working in a harmonious manner with a wide variety of people.Must be able to maintain an elevated level of professionalism both on and off the job as a direct representative of Peet's Coffee.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and maneuver 150 pounds.Peet's is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer For more information about our craft and who we are please visit our website.
