Gallery Restaurant at The Ballantyne in Charlotte specializes in a progressively Southern approach to new American cuisine. Driven by modern culinary techniques, Gallery's culinary team is committed to creating delicious and beautiful cuisine featuring fresh ingredients.

Gallery Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch and upscale dinner daily and offers a full bar and bar menu. Gallery offers a private dining room which can accommodate up to 16 guests. The restaurant's comfortable ambiance is enhanced with a gallery feel by a captivating art exhibit from Awaken Gallery.

JOB SUMMARY

Prepares food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • -Prepares food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards.
    -Starts food items that are prepared in advance, making sure not to prepare over estimated needs.
    -Dates all food containers and rotates as per the SOP, making sure that all perishables are maintained at proper temperatures.
    -Checks pars for shift use, determines necessary preparation, freezer pulls and line set ups. Notes any out-of-stock items or possible shortages.
    -Returns all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
    -Assists in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems; controls food waste, loss, and usage per SOP.
    -Assists in prep work of vegetables and condiments as required for next shift.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • -High school education or equivalent
    -Minimum of one year food service or related work, preferably in a four star restaurant or hotel
    -Ability to operate, maintain, and properly clean a deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill
    -Ability to bend, walk,, regularly move around kitchen, stand ,and remain stationary for short periods of time, reach, hear, see, and use fingers
    -Ability to push, pull, lift, carry or otherwise move food cases, metros, and similar items weighing up to 70 lbs. Ability to push and pull carts.
    -Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
