Job Description:

Title: Sushi Chef

Reports to: Executive Sushi Chef

Summary of Position:

To provide superior hospitality, creating an exceptional dining experience for our guests by utilizing the highest quality ingredients flown in directly from Japan. Chefs must be able to consistently meet our industry leading standards and expectations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ensuring only the highest quality products are available to guests

• Welcoming and greeting guests using Japanese traditions

• Fostering teamwork and unity throughout the restaurant

• Exhibiting passion for culinary arts, obsessive with quality and presentation

• Facilitating relationships between departments to achieve restaurant goals

• Collaborating with our Culinary leadership to elevate teammates and development

• Building an environment that ensures equal and fair treatment for all.

• Following company recipes and standards in accordance to food safety and sanitation guidelines

• Stocking, filling & rotating of product

• Receiving and completing any special accommodations

• Maintaining overall facility cleanliness

• Practicing safe food handling procedures


• Most duties will be performed within the Sushi and prepared foods areas

• Exposure to temperature changes within various work stations

• Duties include: walking, standing for long periods of time, repetitive hand and arm movements, frequent heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, stretching and continuous guest and teammate interactions in a fast paced environment

• Must be 18 years of age or older with at least 3 years of Sushi Chef experience

• Available to work any shifts between the hours of 5am to 11pm

• Advanced knife skills

• Able to cut and present sashimi in accordance to Japanese industry standards

• Able to interact with guests through proper conversation and knowledge, not only in regards to Sushi and Japanese cuisine but with all general varied topics

  • Mandatory weekly Covid-19 tests- Company provided tests available Tuesdays at Nakato from 2pm-4pm. Teammates that are unable to test at the restaurant, must provide self test results by Thursday.
