(See Additional Information for equivalencies) + One (1) year of experience conducting one (1) or more of the following activities in the environmental, health, and safety field: assisting in day-to-day activities of an environmental compliance or education program, stormwater management program, food safety program, sustainability and/or water quality related program; assisting in or coordinating community outreach events, and/or developing materials and content for promoting public awareness campaigns. + Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental compliance, stormwater municipal separate storm system (MS4), and/or food safety regulations. + Skill in developing and delivering presentations using software or web-based tools. + Effective oral and written communication skills. + Proficient in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and desktop publishing software. + Ability to interact with people, develop strong interpersonal partnerships, and make public presentations. Preferred Qualifications + Experience with website development, marketing and/or social media content creation. + Experience implementing a Stormwater Management Plan for an MS4 Program. + Knowledge of and experience with the Texas Food Establishment Rules. + Texas Food Handler's Certification + Master's Degree from an accredited university. + 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training Job Description The EHS Specialist will support day-to-day activities in the Environmental Division, including the stormwater MS4 and food safety programs. Primary responsibilities include promoting the programs through campus community engagement opportunities, outreach and education, implementation and review of the Stormwater Management Plan and assisting in pollution prevention activities, inspections, and compliance reporting activities. Job Duties + Develop, implement, and maintain outreach and education campaigns to engage the campus community and promote awareness of environmental issues and impacts which support the Environmental Division programs. + Plan, coordinate, and participate in campus community engagement events and activities to support MS4 Stormwater goals. + Assist in developing content and maintaining the Environmental Division webpages. + Cultivate and maintain interdepartmental and external partnerships to promote Environmental Division program goals. + Develop strategies and partnerships to promote awareness and implementation of food safety program policies to the campus community including a streamlined permitting and inspection process for event-based Temporary Food Establishments and Mobile Food Units. + Conduct streamlined food safety inspections and assist in stormwater management program inspections for compliance with applicable policies and regulations. + Assist in developing, reviewing, maintaining, and updating internal programs and plans related to the Texas State MS4 permit and Stormwater Management Program + Manage and track data and inventory for Texas State MS4 permit compliance reporting. + Develop and conduct on-line and in-person training presentations and to align with program goals for the MS4 and Food Safety programs. + Provide technical assistance/customer service to campus community for environmental and food safety programs. + Participate as a member of the spill response team upon completion of specialized training. Additional Information to Applicants Equivalencies: High school diploma or GED plus five (5) years of the specified experience will meet the education and experience requirements. An Associate's degree in a specified field plus three (3) years of the specified experience will meet the education and experience requirements. A Master's degree or higher in one of the specified fields will meet the education and experience requirements. Work involves various degrees of hazard and may include prolonged work in outdoor conditions. May respond to emergencies on campus during the day or after-hours. May require occasional work outside of normal working hours. Work may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
