Job Description

WCNC Charlotte, the TEGNA NBC affiliate in the 22nd market is seeking a full-time co-host for "Charlotte Today". Candidate must have a strong on-air presence and delivery skills. The host will conduct live, on-air interviews, which include, but are not limited to, product demonstration and cooking segments. Candidate will develop strong working relationship with station clients to clearly convey their product messaging in an interesting and effective way. Participate in demonstration segments as needed or warranted for the client or story.

Co-host / Producer will fully be able to produce Charlotte Today when Executive producer is not available. Be able to book clients and guests, writing, producing and editing segments with graphics and video, and ability to build show rundowns and produce shows. Also, produce on-location shoots are required.

This position also requires strong social media activity. Co-host / Producer will be responsible for daily social media posts across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Social content will be for, sponsored client posts, marketing Charlotte Today and WCNC Charlotte. As well as branding themselves across station and personal social platforms.
Candidate must have strong content judgement, strong writing and production skills, excellent presentation and reporting skills; knowledge of journalistic standards as related to on-air, digital and social presentation. Must be a team player, committed to this full-time position and comfortable with the pressures of a daily live show.

  • On-air hosting experience required.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm with occasional evening and weekend and station appearances required.
  • ENPS, Edius, Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Ability to shoot, write and edit content for all platforms is expected.
  • Able to produce and booth a 30 to 60 minutes live, or taped program a must.
  • Strong social media skills required.
  • College degree preferred; Broadcast or communication emphasis preferred.
