Job Overview:

This position applies fundamental accounting theories and concepts to support corporate credit, risk management and contracts strategies; provides key analysis and insight to determine credit worthiness of new and existing customers. Continually works on creating tools and process for analysis to ensure root causes are identified and improvement plans are in place. Dotted line oversight of Credit Analysts and responsible for month-end reporting as related to functional area.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees credit activities and provides guidance on the more complex, larger accounts according to established Company procedures
  • Provides leadership and guidance to Credit Analysts, AR Representatives and the Sales organization. Market, train, counsel, advise, and communicate credit department policy and procedures to company personnel
  • Supervises and leads portfolio review meetings
  • Produces and presents department production metrics and monthly high-risk analysis of overall portfolio
  • Provides frequent analysis of customer accounts and reviews incoming orders daily to minimize risk and ensure terms & conditions are compliant with corporate credit policy
  • Performs advanced credit analysis including calculating financial ratios, interpreting financial statements, bank & trade references and third-party reports to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money
  • Exercises independent judgment by displaying and reaching conclusions on the most complex credit decisions as well as assumes accountability for approval decisions and the overall quality of the portfolio
  • Articulates the extension of credit limits and payment terms based on intelligence, syndicated data, and internal modeling and provides recommendations and solutions
  • Exercises approval authority as delegated and in accordance with credit policy
  • Resolves escalated issues and problems by conferring with senior management, staff, other internal departments, outside contacts and others as necessary
  • Leads process improvement projects and take an active role in cross-functional teams to assist in driving quality improvements, processes, and initiatives

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
  • Minimum of 7+ years relevant experience in the Credit field, as a Credit Officer, Credit Manager, Loan Officer, Team Leader or other relevant experience including experience managing problem credits
  • Experience in structuring and documenting credit modeling, policy and procedure
  • Experience supervising/mentoring staff preferred
  • Experience with automated ERP systems and system implementation is a plus
  • Strong business acumen
  • Understanding of economic and accounting principles and practices, including the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Proven understanding and demonstrated knowledge of credit policies and procedures
  • Outstanding analytical skills, including the ability to interpret risk thru analysis of financial ratios
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Uniform Commerical Code (UCC) is a plus
